Enabling Payment Data Transfer (PDT) in Paypal

What is PDT

Payment Data Transfer (PDT) is very important to ensure that the redirection from paypal is taking place after a genuine payment. It provides merchants with the ability to display transaction details to buyers who are redirected back to their site upon payment completion. A merchant will have to pass an identity token, along with the transaction token, to PayPal in order to receive information that confirms that the payment is complete. This identity token coould be generated in merchant panel of paypal using the following instruction.

Turning On PDT

1. Click the My Account tab.

2. Click the Profile subtab.

3. Click the Website Payment Preferences link

4. Click the Payment Data Transfer On radio button[You must enable Auto Return in order to use Payment Data Transfer. You will have to provide "Return URL" ie the url of the page to which the site is to be redirected after the payment]

5. Click Save.

6. When you click Save and save your PDT preferences, a message will appear at the
top of the page indicating that you have successfully saved your preferences. Your
identity token will also appear in the context of this message.

7. Once you have enabled PDT, it will permanently appear below the Payment Data Transfer On/Off radio buttons on the Website Payments Preferences page.
